Discover 600 million years of history on your doorstep…
Charnwood’s landscape and history has been shaped by its geology. Over the past 600 million years, the area we now call Charnwood Forest has been a volcanic island, a mountain range, a rainforest, a desert and has even rested at the bottom of a warm tropical sea!
This guided walk will introduce you to some of the places that you can see the geological remains of Charnwood’s ancient landscapes.
Places are limited to 10 people. Booking is essential and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
This tour is 3 miles/5 kilometres and will take approximately 3 hours with a break for morning tea/coffee at the Deer Barn Tea Rooms. Please wear sturdy, comfortable shoes or boots.
The event is free but please note that Bradgate Park charges a fee for parking (approx. £3 – £4). We will meet at 10am at the Newtown Linford Car Park for this walk.
