Geology talk – Wednesday 5th April 2017, 7pm to 8:30pm.

Rothley Centre, Mountsorrel Lane, Rothley, LE7 7PR.

Over the past 600 million years, the area we now call Charnwood Forest has been a volcanic island, a mountain range, a rainforest, a desert and has even rested at the bottom of a warm tropical sea! On Wednesday 5th April our geology research volunteer, Alan Briggs, will take you on a tour through the history of Charnwood’s ancient geological landscapes. The illustrated talk will cover the whole of the Charnwood Roots project area and includes its geology and topography.

The talk is free but you do need to book a place to attend by Tuesday 28th March by emailing charnwoodroots@le.ac.uk with your name, a contact telephone number and the number of people for whom you would like to book a place. This talk was very popular last year and places are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment.

Parking is available at the Rothley Centre which is situated on Mountsorrel Lane, Rothley, LE7 7PR. The talk will begin at 7pm and refreshments will be provided. The event will finish by 8:30pm.

It promises to be a fascinating evening and we hope to see you there!
